Joseph M. Van Name, CFP®, President
Joe Van Name, CFP is a Certified Financial Planner and president of the financial planning firm, Advisors Financial, Inc. (AFI).
Joe works closely with clients in the development of personalized financial plans and their implementation. AFI offers portfolio management and investment services to individuals, corporations and pension plans.
He is a native of Villanova, PA, and a graduate of Washington College in Chestertown, MD, and holds a Certificate of Financial Planning from the Georgetown University Center for Professional Development.
Joe is a member of the Financial Planning Association and a graduate of their Residency training program. He is a Registered Investment Advisor with Cadaret, Grant & Co., Inc. and SEC Registered Representative.
Jocelyn R. Kaplan, CFP®, Of Counsel
Jocelyn Kaplan, CFP is a Certified Financial Planner and founder of Advisors Financial.
Jocelyn directly assists clients in the development of personalized financial plans and their implementation.
Ms. Kaplan has been selected by Worth magazine (October 1997-1998) to be on their list of the "Best 300 Financial Advisers". Ms. Kaplan was named in "Who's Who of Financial Planners," in the January 2009 issue of Washingtonian magazine and is included in Who's Who in American Women. Jocelyn has also been interviewed and quoted in articles in the Washington Post, Physicians Financial News, Research Magazine, Ticker Magazine and Bottom Line/Personal.
A graduate of Northwestern University and a former radio talk show host, Ms. Kaplan is an articulate, knowledgeable and personable speaker who regularly speaks at meetings and seminars. Originally from New York, she now lives in Northern Virginia.
Ms. Kaplan is a registered principal. She also is licensed to sell life, health and disability insurance.
Amy C. Hoffman, CFP®, Senior Vice-President
Amy Hoffman was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance from The University of Akron, Akron, Ohio in 1994.
Amy has been a financial planning analyst with The Jentner Financial Group of Akron, Ohio, a financial planning assistant with Sullivan, Bruyette, Speros and Blayney of McLean, Virginia, and a financial analyst with Ernst & Young LLP of Washington, D.C. Amy joined Advisors Financial, Inc. in January of 1999.
Amy completed her CFP certification in September of 2000 and is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). She is also a Registered Investment Adviser Representative with Cadaret Grant and Co., Inc. and is licensed to sell life, health and disability insurance.
Amy was featured in an article by the Journal of Financial Planning entitled, "New Kids on the Block", which details the experiences of a freshman financial planner.
Cindy Irving, CFP®
Cindy joined AFI in 2007, and is head of one of three advisory teams at AFI. She is a Certified Financial Planner®, and works with clients to assist them in the development and implementation of personalized financial plans. Cindy also chairs the AFI Investment Committee and closely monitors the model portfolios developed by AFI.
Cindy was born in Sandusky, Ohio, and she spent her early years in numerous cities in the Midatlantic, Midwest and South, graduating from high school in Pittsburgh, PA. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The College of William and Mary. After four years in the banking industry, she earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, with distinction, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
After spending almost 20 years in the management consulting and real estate finance industries, she completed the financial planning program at Georgetown University Center for Professional Development and joined the Advisors Financial team.
Cindy is a Registered Investment Adviser Representative with Cadaret Grant and Co., Inc. and is licensed to sell life, health and disability insurance. She is a member of the Financial Planning Association and a graduate of their residency training program. In addition to her financial planning work, Cindy sits on the Board of Directors of the Arlington Food Assistance Center, a local food bank.
